If you missed Dizzee Rascal on his sold-out No Chiefs Allowed tour with El-P last May, here’s some good news: He’s coming back to the States for another run. The bad news is that he’s sticking to the same major markets as last time.

Why would Dizzee Rascal play the same cities over again instead of expanding his audience elsewhere in the country? Beats me. All I know is that if you don’t live in New York, California, Chicago and a handful of usual suspects — like the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago and the Rogers Picnic in Toronto — then you’re still out of luck.

As I reported several weeks ago (along with everybody else), today (actually tonight) marks the beginning of the El-P, Dizzee Rascal and Busdriver tour. Dubbed the No Chiefs Allowed tour, the month-long trek co-stars gutter music advocate Aaron LaCrate (Dizzee’s DJ), Mr. Dibbs (El’s DJ) and
multimedia artist/MC the Mighty Quin (El’s hypeman), and Mush producer/A&R dude Antimc (Bus’ DJ). But wait, there’s more! Dapper Chi-Town dudes Kidz in the Hall and snarky rapper Aesop Rock will appear as special guests on, uh, special dates.

As an added bonus, El-P is selling a tour-only item, Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixx2, a two-CD sequel to his 2003 mix compilation of odds and sods. He has also launched a blog, “Bastard’s Delight,” on okayplayer.com. Once there, you’ll find a stream of El’s remix for Kidz in the Hall’s “Driving Down the Block.” Check it out after peeping the tour dates below.

Last year, Dizzee Rascal’s label XL Recordings shocked a lot of people when it announced that his new album, Maths + English, would not be available on a physical format in the U.S. Instead, the label made it available as a digital download, while giving it a full release in Europe. Although Maths + English drew strong reviews from dozens of U.S. publications, it didn’t enter the musical zeitgeist like another standout UK hip-hop release, M.I.A.’s Kala.

Now Definitive Jux is stepping into the breach and giving Dizzee Rascal’s third album the U.S. rollout it deserves. On April 29, the indie rap stronghold will reissue Maths + English in CD format. It will also append two new tracks, “G.H.E.T.T.O.” and “Driving,” and a remix of Dizzee’s awesome “Where’s Da G’s” collabo with UGK by label boss El-P. With luck, Dizzee — a marvelous live performer — will make it over to the States for some gigs as well.
