Here’s a new joint from UK downtempo vets Bonobo. It’s off their upcoming album single “The Keeper,” due September 14 on Ninja Tune. Y’all should remember Andreya Triana from Flying Lotus’ Los Angeles.
Kero One has filmed a video for one of my favorite tracks this year, “Welcome to the Bay.” Peace to Michelle at Audible Treats.
Litigious nation:
Lookin’ for love in all the wrong places: Cookin’ Soul’s 1:00 a.m. & Rising (myspace.com), Pac Div, Church League Champions (churchleaguechampions.com), Oddissee’s Odd Summer EP (blog.rebellen.info)

You may have noticed that I’m posting more videos lately. Expect that to continue. I won’t be posting a bunch of wick-wack though, just the stuff that’s relevant to Plug One.
This one’s from the upcoming Reflection Eternal reunion album Revolutions Per Minute. FYI, Dilated Peoples’ last single before their hiatus was called “Back Again.”
Goofy rap trend of the week: Movie “trailers” for upcoming albums.
I’ll post the others when, uh, I get to it.
Update: B+ tells me that, unlike the recent trailers for Lupe Fiasco and Kid Cudi’s albums, this really is a movie trailer. Video director Nabil Elderkin is making a documentary about the recording of Distant Relatives. So there you go.
I’ve followed MF Grimm’s “Comic Book Corner” for a while now, but this one is very well-written. MF Doom’s former friend has turned into an excellent columnist. Check this out for his take on the comic book industry’s search for an equivalent to Sex & the City.

So yeah, I slept on the Vans Warped Tour. But that’s only because the hip hop offerings are so anemic in comparison to last year. In fact, the only two dudes worth mentioning on the bill are Shad (more on him later) and P.O.S. The latter is having a breakout year thanks to Never Better, which landed in the Billboard top 100 upon its release last February.
There’s still about a month and a half left in the tour. After that, he’ll support Bad Brains on a few dates; those have yet to be announced, but I’ll add them once they become available. (August 12 update: Added!)
British hip hop fans stand up: Juice Aleem, an oft-recurring guest on Big Dada product throughout the decade, will finally get a longplayer of his own. Set for release on September 1, Jerusalaam Come combines Aleem’s eccentric, ragga-inspired rhymes with dank, grimy beats. Think New Flesh for Old and Roots Manuva (whom, alas, do not appear on this one).
Let’s make a deal:
Somewhere out there: Illmind’s Blaps, Rhymes & Life Vol. 3 (mediafire.com), Adad from Eulorhythmics’ Intro to Adad (zshare.net)
It’s the rap team-up of the summer: Ghostface Killah, Method Man & Redman on the “Footprint of Hip Hop” tour! Actually, all three artists were on Rock the Bells last year; this time Raekwon’s absent (since he’s prepping for the long-overdue release of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2). But hey, these dudes got mad classics, Meth & Red just dropped a halfway-decent album, and Ghostface is supposed to drop The Wizard of Poetry in a few months. You gotta love it.
On July 28, future soul princess Georgia Anne Muldrow returns with Umsindo. She just released the Ms. One compilation in May, but this one is a solo effort, her first since 2006’s Olesi: Fragments of an Earth. It arrives via Someothaship/E1 Music (formerly known as Koch). And yes, it includes the original version of the “Roses” track featured on Mos Def’s excellent The Ecstatic.
Here’s a “trailer” for the Gaslamp Killer’s My Troubled Mind EP, which drops August 4 on Brainfeeder/Alpha Pup.
New video from Brother Ali, from the recently released The Truth Is Here EP.
I already noted that Nosaj Thing is touring this month as part of Glitch Mob’s “More Voltage” run. However, he’s also performing some shows on his own. Expect him to fulfill spot dates throughout 2009 unless he manages to pull together a full-fledged tour — which would be much better.
Last week, Stones Throw affiliate Rappcats.com posted a new mix by Koushik, Tell Me What You See. According to the site, it’s “inspired by film noir using samples pulled from Stones Throw & Now-Again.” The download link seems to have expired, but luckily Steady Bloggin’ reposted it for your enjoyment.

DJ Krush, who hasn’t released a new album in five years, recently completed the soundtrack to First Squad: The Moment of Truth, a new anime that just premiered at the Moscow International Film Festival (where it won a special prize). Visit the First Squad website to download wallpapers and even download a trailer. No word on when the movie will hit Japan, much less the United States; or if Krush’s soundtrack will receive a separate release.

Found this on the Kidrobot site. It’s an “ice-cold” player designed by A-Trak and Dust La Rock. Proceed with caution.

Orlando husband-and-wife-and-husband-and-wife team Solillaquists of Sound have announced the first of what will undoubtedly be several tours for their forthcoming album, No More Heroes.
Minneapolis collective Doomtree — Sims, Mike Mictlan, Cecil Otter, Dessa and producers Paper Tiger and Lazerbeak– are heading out on the road next week. The tour won’t feature P.O.S., who is currently performing on the Warped Tour (more on that shortly).
