Lyrics Born roams “Everywhere at Once”

lyrics born.jpg

On March 18, Lyrics Born will release his second album, Everywhere at Once. It’s his first disc since 2003’s Later That Day, and it comes via Anti-/Epitaph Records.

"Taking a new approach to recording, LB threw in everything but the kitchen sink on this one. Whether it was hiring horn and keyboard arrangers for specific songs and parts or bringing in the right MC or musician for the right song, LB took his time (not as much time as Later That Day of course) and the result is some of the best Lyrics Born music to date," reads a message posted on his official website, LyricsBorn.com. Guests on the album include Chali 2na, RJD2 and, of course, his wife and longtime collaborator Joyo Velarde.

In related news, sterling vocalist Joyo Velarde will finally release an album of her own after years spent with the Quannum crew. Love and Understanding is scheduled to drop in the spring, and Lyrics Born handles production.

The track listing for Everywhere at Once is below.

Lyrics Born prepares new album, tour

lyrics born.jpg

Lyrics Born is one of hip-hop’s great showmen, as well as a much-underrated influence on the underground rap scene. His live album, 2006’s Overnight Encore, is sonic proof of his onstage abilities, but it can’t match the real thing.

So take his upcoming tour as a chance to witness a great concert experience. The jaunt — he usually does one a year — prefaces Everywhere At Once, which will only be his second solo album in a 15-year career. Scheduled for February 2008 on Epitaph Records, it’s also his first album since 2004’s Later That Day.

The tour dates are below.

Cut Chemist brings “Listening” to Apple, tours with Lyrics Born

Cut Chemist_BPlus.jpg

Former Jurassic 5 turntablist Cut Chemist continues to promote his excellent debut album, The Audience’s Listening. You can hear "The Audience’s Listening Theme Song" on a new iPod Nano commercial. The success of the clip — which is undoubtedly playing on your television set as you read this — fuels the momentum of "What’s the Altitude," the second single from the album. The single, a collaboration with Los Angeles MC Hymnal, includes dance-oriented remixes from She Wants Revenge and the Astronauts, and an Avalanches-like sampladelic adventure from UK producer Joe Buddha.

Meanwhile, Cut Chemist is taking to the road for a co-headlining tour with Lyrics Born. The man formerly known as Asia Born, whose music has also appeared in "commercial form" (courtesy of Coca-Cola) is about to release a live album, Overnite Encore: Lyrics Born Live! The Quannum Records release hits stores on October 31. Audiences will get a taste of what it sounds like when they see the chief party rocker in person.
